Lawmakers want to roll back state pharmacy fee cut
(Hartford-AP, July 19, 2004 6:10 PM) _ A bipartisan coalition of lawmakers want Governor Jodi Rell's administration to use an unexpected one-point-22 million dollar windfall to roll back a reduction to the state's dispensing fee to pharmacies. But Rell's budget director Mark Ryan says the money is needed to help cover Connecticut's burgeoning pharmacy expenses.
Earlier this year lawmakers reduced the dispensing fee for state Department of Social Services medical assistance programs from three-thirty to three-15 per prescription.
It was part of an effort to help reduce the state's overall drug costs.
But many pharmacists complained the rate for filling drugs for clients using Medicaid and ConnPACE is too low and is forcing some out of business.
